The Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and The Canadian College of Health Information Management are now working with TELUS Health to enhance educational opportunities for health information students.
This initiative enhances the College Education Resource Program (CERP) by introducing the TELUS Collaborative Health Record (CHR) to participating academic institutions. By incorporating this widely-used software into CERP’s teaching tools, we’re providing future health information professionals with valuable hands-on experience with software widely used in clinics and physician offices across Canada, better preparing them for their careers in healthcare.
Through CERP, faculty and students can access the TELUS CHR software in a closed, secure teaching environment specifically designed for learning and research purposes. More information about CERP can be found here.
The TELUS CHR is a customizable, unified EMR that enhances patient and provider experience by offering a wide range of integrated features. These include patient medical records (encompassing patient profiles, medical history, encounter notes, letters, medical reports, lab tests, and other documents), referrals, appointment scheduling, clinical task management, intra-office communications, billing functions, and AI-powered workflow tools.
Betsy Nejat, Senior Director of Partnerships and External Relations with CHIMA and the Canadian College of Health Information Management, said the following about this new collaboration: “This collaboration presents faculty and students of our accredited health information programs a unique hands-on opportunity to learn about CHR, and practice using it before entering the workforce where they will encounter it on the job.”
