Nova Scotia Health, Strategy, Performance and Analytics prefers a CHIM certification

Nova Scotia Health, Strategy, Performance, and Analytics is excited to announce that CHIM (Certified Health Information Management) certification will now be preferred in our job descriptions. This reflects our commitment to recognizing that enhanced data literacy leads to better care for people. The modernized curricular standards from the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) cover essential topics such as information governance, data quality, technology, ethics, and equity, diversity, and inclusion. We are pleased to be collaborating with CHIMA, CCHIM, and educational partners to create pathways for both new and existing employees to achieve this certification, ensuring our workforce maintains the highest standards of excellence and expertise.

This commitment builds on the foundational knowledge of our existing Health Information Professionals and sets a national standard by acknowledging that the field of health information is expanding. It recognizes the value of including professionals from diverse backgrounds who seek to acquire foundational data literacy. We aim to facilitate this through accessible learning pathways.
