CEO & Registrar<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>

As I complete my first month as CHIMA’s CEO & Registrar, I am energized by the passion, professionalism and commitment to quality that I have seen so far from the CHIMA staff and board, as well as the professionals that we serve. This drives my optimism about the future of our profession.\u00a0<\/p><\/div>

At the intersection between healthcare and technology, it is clear how health information professionals play a critical role in supporting quality health care decisions to improve the health and wellness of those living in Canada, while contributing to a more effective and sustainable healthcare system for generations to come. This is the message that we have been sharing with government officials that we met with last week, including senior representatives at Health Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) as well as the Office of the Ministry of AI and Digital Innovation. These meetings were the result of continued efforts of the CHIMA team and our government relations consultants at Sussex Strategy Group over the past few months.<\/p><\/div>

These efforts reflect a core pillar of our work for the weeks, months and years to come, which is focused on greater engagement and collaboration \u2013 with and by our members, strategic partners and broader community \u2013 for the purpose of raising awareness of the health information profession and strengthening the value that we bring to the Canadian public.<\/p><\/div>

The other core pillar is that of excellence, both operationally and through good governance at CHIMA and the College to ensure that we can deliver on our mandate and exceed your expectations through member-focused service, transparency, integrity, and commitment to quality improvement.<\/p><\/div>

These pillars will provide us with the foundation necessary to build on the current strength of the profession. They will ready us to embrace and leverage innovations to improve accessibility and quality of the health information which drives patient care, operational and policy decision-making. Our successes will not come from the work of one, but from the contributions of many towards a common goal. I look forward to our journey together. \u00a0<\/p><\/div>

As we reflect on this past year, we recognize that the CHIMA organization, our members and our board have been on a journey. We are so pleased to have hired our new CEO, Mahmoud Suleiman. It has been exciting to witness Mahmoud\u2018s enthusiasm for the organization, the members and the profession. In the few short weeks that Mahmoud has joined CHIMA, he has fully integrated into the team and established rapport with the board. I have had the privilege of spending some time with Mahmoud and I\u2019m grateful for the knowledge and experience that he brings to this organization.<\/p><\/div>

With completing the exciting milestone of bringing on our new CEO, it is now time to look forward. We have heard from our members and we know that member involvement in this organization is very important. We work diligently to develop the mechanisms to make that work. This will continue to support our efforts to provide transparency to our members and opportunities to strengthen the board by continuing to diversify.<\/p><\/div>

This will be important as we navigate the emerging technologies that are going to change our lives and our careers. We know that HIM professionals are exceptionally well suited to lead the charge in this space. We know that the fundamentals of health information management are going to be important to maintain as we work with partners to ensure appropriate use of AI and as we synergize to realize the benefits. We are ready.<\/p><\/div>

On behalf of the board, I want to thank each and every member for your engagement and support of the board and mostly we want to thank all of you for the work that you do that supports this great profession.<\/p><\/div>

Alors que je termine mon premier mois en tant que PDG et registraire de CHIMA, je suis stimul\u00e9 par la passion, le professionnalisme et l\u2019engagement envers la qualit\u00e9 dont ont fait preuve jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent le personnel et le conseil d\u2019administration de CHIMA, ainsi que les professionnels que nous servons. Cela me rend optimiste quant \u00e0 l\u2019avenir de notre profession. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u00c0 la crois\u00e9e des chemins entre les soins de sant\u00e9 et la technologie, il est clair que les professionnels de l\u2019information sur la sant\u00e9 jouent un r\u00f4le essentiel en appuyant des d\u00e9cisions de qualit\u00e9 en mati\u00e8re de soins de sant\u00e9 afin d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la sant\u00e9 et le bien-\u00eatre des personnes vivant au Canada, tout en contribuant \u00e0 un syst\u00e8me de sant\u00e9 plus efficace et durable pour les g\u00e9n\u00e9rations \u00e0 venir. C’est le message que nous avons transmis aux repr\u00e9sentants gouvernementaux que nous avons rencontr\u00e9s la semaine derni\u00e8re, notamment des hauts responsables de Sant\u00e9 Canada, d’Immigration, R\u00e9fugi\u00e9s et Citoyennet\u00e9 Canada (IRCC), d’Emploi et D\u00e9veloppement social Canada (EDSC) ainsi que\u00a0celui\u00a0du Bureau du minist\u00e8re de l’IA et de l’Innovation num\u00e9rique. Ces efforts refl\u00e8tent un pilier\u00a0<\/span>principal<\/span>\u00a0de notre travail pour les semaines, les mois et les ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir, qui est ax\u00e9 sur un engagement et\u00a0une collaboration accrus\u00a0\u2013 avec et par nos membres, nos partenaires strat\u00e9giques et la communaut\u00e9 au sens large \u2013 dans le but de mieux faire conna\u00eetre la profession de l\u2019information sur la sant\u00e9 et de\u00a0renfor\u00e7ir\u00a0la valeur que nous apportons au public canadien.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

L\u2019autre\u00a0pilier\u00a0<\/span>principal<\/span> est celui de l\u2019excellence, tant sur le plan op\u00e9rationnel que par une bonne gouvernance au sein de CHIMA et de l\u2019Ordre, afin de garantir que nous puissions remplir notre mandat et d\u00e9passer vos attentes gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des services ax\u00e9s sur les membres, \u00e0 la transparence, \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9grit\u00e9 et \u00e0 notre engagement envers l\u2019am\u00e9lioration de la qualit\u00e9.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Ces piliers nous fourniront les fondations n\u00e9cessaires pour tirer parti de la force actuelle de la profession. Ils nous pr\u00e9pareront \u00e0 adopter et \u00e0 exploiter les innovations afin d\u2019am\u00e9liorer l\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 et la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019information sur la sant\u00e9 qui guide les soins aux patients ainsi que la prise de d\u00e9cisions op\u00e9rationnelles et strat\u00e9giques. En jetant un regard sur l\u2019ann\u00e9e \u00e9coul\u00e9e, nous constatons que l\u2019organisation CHIMA, nos membres et notre conseil d\u2019administration ont parcouru un long chemin. Nous sommes ravis d\u2019avoir embauch\u00e9 notre nouveau PDG, Mahmoud\u00a0Suleiman.\u00a0<\/span>Ce fut un r\u00e9el plaisir de constater l\u2019enthousiasme de Mahmoud envers l\u2019organisation, les membres et la profession.\u00a0<\/span>En quelques semaines seulement depuis son arriv\u00e9e \u00e0 la CHIMA, Mahmoud s\u2019est pleinement int\u00e9gr\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe et a \u00e9tabli de bonnes relations avec le conseil d\u2019administration. J\u2019ai eu le privil\u00e8ge de passer du temps avec Mahmoud et je suis reconnaissante\u00a0envers\u00a0les connaissances et l\u2019exp\u00e9rience qu\u2019il apporte \u00e0 cette organisation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Maintenant que nous avons franchi cette \u00e9tape importante avec l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de notre nouveau PDG, il est temps de regarder vers l\u2019avenir. Nous avons \u00e9cout\u00e9 nos membres et nous savons que leur implication dans cette organisation est tr\u00e8s importante. Nous travaillons avec diligence pour mettre en place les m\u00e9canismes n\u00e9cessaires \u00e0 cet effet. Cela continuera de soutenir nos efforts pour offrir de la transparence \u00e0 nos membres et des occasions de renforcer le conseil d\u2019administration en poursuivant sa diversification.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Cela sera essentiel alors que nous naviguons parmi les technologies \u00e9mergentes qui vont transformer nos vies et nos carri\u00e8res. Nous savons que les professionnels de l\u2019information sur la sant\u00e9\u00a0<\/span>sont particuli\u00e8rement bien plac\u00e9s pour mener cette \u00e9volution. Nous savons qu\u2019il sera important de pr\u00e9server les principes fondamentaux de la gestion de l\u2019information sur la sant\u00e9 alors que nous collaborons avec les parties prenantes pour garantir une utilisation appropri\u00e9e de l\u2019IA et que nous travaillons en synergie pour en tirer pleinement parti. Nous sommes pr\u00eats.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
