{"id":1504659,"date":"2021-11-29T19:41:15","date_gmt":"2021-11-29T23:41:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/healthinfocanada.ca\/virtual-care-in-alberta-highlights-of-the-alberta-working-group-report\/"},"modified":"2021-11-29T19:41:15","modified_gmt":"2021-11-29T23:41:15","slug":"virtual-care-in-alberta-highlights-of-the-alberta-working-group-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/healthinfocanada.ca\/?p=1504659","title":{"rendered":"Highlights of the Alberta Virtual Care Working Group report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the rising demand for virtual care, the Alberta Virtual Care Working Group published a report to access factors for its acceleration in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their report, <em>Optimizing Virtual Care in Alberta<\/em>, design principles were drafted \u201cbased on characteristics of an idealized virtual care system.\u201d These principles were proposed to create a scheme for aligning enterprise virtual care policy and workflow in Alberta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The working group outlined the following recommendations to achieve the proposed design principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Coordination through a multi-stakeholder Virtual Care Coordinating Body<\/li><li>Patient representation in the Virtual Care Coordinating Body to represent the interests of diverse groups<\/li><li>Co-design as a core value of the coordinating body<\/li><li>Digital health to expand the scope of virtual care<\/li><li>The adoption of the design principles as the shared vision for executing virtual care in Alberta<\/li><li>A long-term strategic vision that supports gradual change in the virtual care system<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a press release from the working group, this report is \u201ca call for the re-imagination of digital health planning as a patient-centric, collaborative process, upholding the ideal that patient care is better served if partners in the health sector actively work together in virtual care design.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resources: <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/cpsa.us15.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=3b3fd8108338d75f6e4854b6b&amp;id=9b5e0f2f33&amp;e=6336c3f667\" target=\"_blank\">Optimizing Virtual Care in Alberta: Recommendations from the Alberta Virtual Care Working Group<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Join Ewan Affleck during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.infoway-inforoute.ca\/en\/digital-health-week\">Digital Health Week<\/a> in the conversation about <a href=\"https:\/\/copilot.gregswings.ca\/events\/73851\">creating the conditions to optimize virtual care<\/a>, featuring a presentation of this report by the Alberta Virtual Care Working Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Digital Health Week, hosted by Canada Health Infoway from November 29 to December 5, 2021, is proudly supported by CHIMA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With the rising demand for virtual care, the Alberta Virtual Care Working Group published a report to access factors for its acceleration in the province.
