That&#8217;s why CHIMA, in partnership and collaboration with health organizations such as Canada Health Infoway, is engaged in a terminology standards community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are efforts taking place within both a\u00a0Sex and Gender Working Group\u00a0and an active\u00a0HL7 Gender Harmony Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This community of technical, administrative, and content experts is working to ensure that terminology standards align with the needs of Canadians, and that safety and quality in health care includes safety and quality of care for people of sexual and gender diversity.<a href=\"https:\/\/infocentral.infoway-inforoute.ca\/en\/collaboration\/wg\/sex-gender\"><br><br>The Sex and Gender Working Group<\/a>&nbsp;is designed to implement strategies to modernize sex and gender information practices in EHR systems in Canada. They meet on the second Tuesday of every month from 12:00 pm\u20131:00 pm EST. This group is open and encourages members who are interested in this innovative work to join the community discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/confluence.hl7.org\/display\/VOC\/The+Gender+Harmony+Project\">HL7 Gender Harmony Project<\/a>&nbsp;began as a way to capture the ideas encompassed by \u2018sex\u2019 and \u2018gender\u2019 within health models.
