Pregnancy & Infant Loss Network

When a family experiences pregnancy and infant loss, they will often look to their healthcare provider for guidance, support, and information. These non clinical interactions could include important details about the loss, assessments of the family’s emotional state, and information about grief supports or other referrals made. These conversations can be difficult for providers to have, and difficult for families to remember. In this session, we will discuss how to document these conversations and interactions in a sensitive way that would be helpful for a family to read at a later date should they access their health records, and inform process improvement as it pertains to bereavement care and support.

11:00 am – 12:00 pmHow Patient Ombudsman uses data (its own and other sources) to identify trends in complaints and make decisions to initiate investigations.

Trend analysis is part of the role of an ombuds – to shine a light on emerging issues and serve as a “canary in the coal mine”. This presentation would look at how we use our own data as well as other sources to identify trends in complaints to spot patterns, systemic issues, and make decisions to initiate own motion investigations.

In the era of personalized medicine, the role of Health Information Management (HIM) is evolving rapidly to meet the demands of precision healthcare. This talk, titled “From Data to Decisions: Revolutionizing HIM with Personalized Medicine,” will explore how HIM professionals can harness five critical data domains—clinical data, genomics, lifestyle, environmental factors, and social determinants of health—to drive personalized healthcare solutions. Attendees will deeply understand how advanced technologies like AI and machine learning are integrated into HIM practices to transform raw data into actionable insights. The session will provide practical strategies for leveraging these technologies to enhance patient outcomes, improve decision-making processes, and ensure HIM professionals are at the forefront of healthcare innovation. Participants will be equipped to lead the charge in revolutionizing healthcare delivery through personalized medicine by attending.
