Eastern College’s New Health Information Management Diploma Program Receives CCHIM Accreditation

“We have been proud to support students in Health Information Management education for many years, and we are excited to build on that success with our new CHIMA-accredited program at Eastern College” says Eastern College President Craig Donaldson. “With the expertise of our team and a strong understanding of the industry, students can be confident they are gaining the knowledge and skills employers are looking for. Students will benefit from the convenience of online learning, dedicated faculty, and extensive student support services.”

To support students on their path to certification, Eastern College will cover the cost of the first National Certification Exam (NCE) sitting. Student membership with CHIMA will also be provided for the duration of their time at the college. With no long waitlists and monthly start dates, students can begin their training sooner and move confidently toward certification and employment.

“These modernized standards ensure that graduates possess the competencies and skills required in today’s healthcare environment,” states Lisa McKenzie, Director of the Canadian College of Health Information Management. “We look forward to supporting Eastern College students as they pursue certification and welcoming them into the profession.”

One of the key features is the final 8-week practicum, where students apply their learning in a real-world health information setting. Graduates also benefit from job placement assistance and gain access to essential Canadian health data tools, including coding standards from the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI).
