The Ontario chapter is pleased to present a policy development education session, available in the professional development area of the learning centre for free to CHIMA members and $30 for non-members.
Strong policies are essential for health information professionals, but developing them can be challenging. This education session, facilitated by Sharon vanValkenburg, will provide guidance on how to build effective policies in highly integrated health systems and outline the accountability of health information professionals throughout that process.
Developing Policy in an Integrated World covers current trends, as well as soft and hard considerations in policy development. It explores how to define the processes of decision making and policy approval, review, archiving, and destruction, and how to socialize a policy once it has been developed.
About the facilitator
Sharon vanValkenburg lives on the shore of Lake Temiskaming and works with health care organizations throughout northeast Ontario and beyond. She has extensive experience developing effective policies. Her work focuses on providing short-term solutions with long-term value in areas such as board development, strategic planning, new business development, integration, quality and risk management, and information systems.
This education session is worth 1 CPE credit for CHIMA’s professional members.
