New partnership agreement serves as a pathway to promote excellence and leadership in digital health.

The Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) and Digital Health Canada have signed a collaborative agreement in support of their common interest of ensuring that Canada’s health information and health informatics professionals have the skills, knowledge, and education needed to contribute to Canada’s health care system through ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.

Through this agreement, Digital Health Canada and CHIMA will recognize one another’s professional development content for appropriate continuing education credits and deliver relevant thought leadership to each other’s respective membership communities.

“Certified health information professionals play a critical role in people’s lives, the funding that enables care, and the policy decisions that shape our communities and our country,” states Jeff Nesbitt, CEO and Registrar of the Canadian College of Health Information Management and CHIMA. “This is evident in the increased demand for certified professionals within and beyond the health care sector. CHIMA is proud to partner with Digital Health Canada to provide increased professional development options for our members as they continue their journey in lifelong learning.”

“This collaboration represents another key milestone for our association and members across Canada as we advance the digital health landscape and foster digitally connected and accessible healthcare for all,” states Mark Casselman, CEO of Digital Health Canada. “Working closely with CHIMA, we will extend our members’ access to expertise and resources. Alliances like this one with leading organizations strengthen the knowledge base available to digital health professionals in Canada.”

Both Digital Health Canada and CHIMA share a common interest in ensuring that Canada’s health leaders have the skills, knowledge, and education needed to contribute to Canada’s health care system through ongoing professional development and lifelong learning. Together, they will grow and extend the connections between communities of health leaders and digital health innovators and provide connections, content, and other opportunities.
