Marketing & Communications Lead

When it comes to health care in Canada, health information and quality of care are inextricably linked. Health information professionals transform data into valuable information that has a significant impact on the quality of health care that Canadians receive. Their work also influences operational decisions at health care institutions and informs policy and funding decisions being made across the country.

The Canadian Health Information Management Association and the Canadian College of Health Information Management, together the Organization, are on a mission to advance the health information profession and ensure quality health information along the continuum of care.

About the College
The Canadian College of Health Information Management is a national, not-for-profit corporation that sets the accreditation standards for educational institutions and certification standards for health information professionals in Canada. The College, incorporated in 1972, protects the public interest by governing and regulating the professional practice of more than 4,600 certified health information member registrants. In enhancing its status as a regulatory body, the College advances the professionalization of the health information industry and acknowledgement of its professionals as a key driver of policy, funding, and the care that Canadians receive.

About CHIMA
CHIMA is the national professional association for the health information profession in Canada, representing over 5,800 health information members from coast to coast to coast. It advocates for and monitors trends within the profession, creates networking opportunities, and facilitates continuing education for its members. CHIMA also connects members with employment opportunities at organizations within health care and beyond.

About this role
The Marketing & Communications Lead will oversee CHIMA and the College’s brands, being accountable for how we deliver on our values and voice to our membership, partners and the broader community to promote CHIMA, the College and the health information professionThe Lead will manage the organization’s marketing and communications initiatives to elevate awareness of, and engagement with CHIMA and its activities, under the direction and support of the leadership team and in collaboration with team members across the organization.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In collaboration with the leadership team, the Lead will contribute to the development of the marketing and communications strategies and leverage their expertise to the execution of these strategies with a focus on: 

Brand and Marketing

  • Lead and manage the organization’s marketing initiatives as it related to creation and management of assets (i.e. brochures, flyers, web banners, social media cards, presentations and webpages)  
  • Develop product ideation concepts like product management and design thinking to match problems to solutions to drive growth strategies 
  • Support partnerships and sponsorships by delivering on marketing and communication activities required for fulfillment of commitments 
  • Facilitate marketing projects, leveraging internal and external support as required to deliver outcomes 
  • Identify and execute improvements for processes, content, and engagement generation to maximize efficiency

 

Communications

  • Lead communication development, ensuring alignment with our brands and organizational values 
  • Develop and updates our key messages for CHIMA and the College’s audiences.  
  • Manage external communication initiatives such as our email newsletter, website content, e-books, reports and other external documents.  
  • Work across the organization to understand products, positioning and goals and translate these into effective and impactful messaging and content.  

 

Social Media Management  

  • Monitor the organization’s social media presence and comment and share important and relevant content.   
  • Develop messaging, creative and engagement strategies to increase followers and activity on our channels.  

 

General Duties 

  • Identify and execute improvements for processes, content, and engagement generation to maximize efficiency. 
  • Supervise external graphic designers, photographers, videographers, translators, writers, editors, and others, as required.  
  • Attend in-person events as needed to represent the organization at exhibit tables/booths, education days or conferences 
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Skills and Experience   

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a relevant field of practice 
  • Completion of post-secondary degree in business, marketing, communications or a related discipline 
  • Excellent understanding and working knowledge of content positioning to build assets for diverse audiences (i.e., health information professionals, government, the public, sponsors, etc.)  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to different audiences 
  • Working proficiency of Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, Photoshop & Illustrator 
  • Digitally savvy and able to work across multiple platforms (e.g., WordPress, Office 365, Asana, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) 
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 
  • Project management experience with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills  
  • Experience dealing with sensitive information and ensuring confidentiality 
  • Experience working remotely and in a virtual team environment with limited travel as required

  • Open to working flexible hours, as operations require 
  • Some travel within Canada
