CHIMA Practice Communities
A CHIMA Practice Communities. Designed for individuals passionate about advancing the practice of health information.
It serves as a collaborative space where contributors from across Canada can connect, share insights, and build collective knowledge on specific areas of interest that are crucial to the nation’s health care landscape.
Clinical Documentation Improvement Community
Clinical documentation is used to facilitate communication, allow evidence-based health care systems to automate decisions, provide evidence for legal records and create patient registry functions so health agencies can manage and research large patient populations more efficiently.
Interoperability & Terminology standards community
This practice involves establishing uniform protocols and vocabularies that enable seamless and secure exchange, interpretation, and use of patient health information ensuring that data shared between entities remains consistent, accurate, and actionable for improved care.
Information governance community
This practice is the strategic framework employed by health care organizations to manage, utilize, and secure patient health information, ensuring its integrity, confidentiality, and availability in compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements, thereby enhancing the quality of patient care and protecting patient privacy.
Medical coding community
This practice focuses on converting health care diagnoses, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes, derived from clinical documentation, to accurately capture patient care events.
Health Information Certified Associate community
This practice spans clinical knowledge, professionalism, health care office management, technology utilization, and health care systems. They manage administrative tasks and leveraging technology for enhanced care.
Privacy community
The practice spans health information professionals, academics, and stakeholders to collaborate, share best practices, and advance privacy frameworks in Canadian healthcare.
CHIMA Chapter Communities
Regional gatherings designed to shine a light on the talents and achievements of its members within a specific geographic area. Chapter Communities are designed to spotlight community members, educate attendees on regional advancements in health information, and provide updates from the Association. The format of these meetings varies depending on speaker preference, technical capabilities, facilitation style, and other factors.
A membership is required to participate in the CHIMA Chapter Communities. The Chapter’s do not yet leverage the community platform, but this is coming soon!
