The Canadian College of Health Information Management (College) would like to announce the successful accreditation of RCB College’s Medical Office Assistant & Unit Clerk program on our Health Information-Certified Associate (HICA) standards.
This program prepares students for administrative roles in medical offices, clinics, and hospital units. It is ideal for newcomers, career changers, and anyone seeking a stable healthcare career in Alberta. Students gain practical skills in medical terminology, patient communication, scheduling, billing, EMR systems, office procedures, and unit clerk duties. The program combines classroom learning with hands-on practicum experience, including placements with healthcare providers such as Alberta Health Services (AHS), where available. Graduates are equipped with the confidence and workplace-ready skills needed to succeed in healthcare environments.
Usman Sadiq, Education Leader at RCB College states “our goal is to help students build meaningful healthcare careers through hands-on training and industry-focused education.”
“We are pleased to announce the accreditation of RCB College by the Canadian College of Health Information Management (the College). RCB College’s development of a robust program reflects the commitment of its faculty and staff to creating a quality program that is aligned to CCHIM’s educational standards,” says Mahmoud Suleiman, CEO and Registrar of the College. “As such, the graduates will be eligible to attempt the Health Information-Certified Associate (HICA) national certification exam and those who are successful will have demonstrated the competence to make meaningful contributions to the healthcare system in Canada. We are very excited to see RCB College contributing to the health information profession in this fashion.”
