Brieanne Kinghorn, BSc, CHIM
Community Facilitator, Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI)
Brieanne Kinghorn is Certified in Health Information Management (CHIM) by the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Along with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Victoria, her academic background provides a strong foundation in both the scientific and information management aspects of healthcare.
She is a Data Quality and Clinical Documentation Specialist with Health Shared Services in Alberta. In this role, Brieanne works closely with both new and experienced coders, providing guidance, education and support to coding accuracy and strengthen data quality. Clinical documentation improvement is particularly meaningful to her, as she believes high-quality data begins with clear, thorough, and precise clinical documentation.
In addition to her industry role, she is an instructor with an accredited Health Information Management program, where she is committed to mentoring and educating the next generation of HIM professionals. Brieanne is an active member of her professional community and a dedicated local volunteer. She acts as an advisory committee member with her local primary care network to help improve care within her direct community.
As the Facilitator for the Clinical Documentation Improvement Community, Brieanne is excited to collaborate with our members, learn from their collective expertise, and work together to build a stronger future for CDI and health information management.
