At CHIMA, we are committed to providing accurate, timely, and relevant resources that reflect the evolving needs of the health information field. To uphold this commitment, we will be archiving selected Professional Practice Briefs (PPBs)from our collection starting October 30, 2025. This means that these resources will no longer be available.
This update ensures that the PPBs featured on our website remain aligned with the latest trends, best practices, and standards within health information management. We understand that our educational partners rely on these resources for teaching and learning, and we want to continue delivering materials that are both practical and forward-looking.
We are archiving these publications because much of the information is outdated, no longer relevant to today’s health information management (HIM) practice, or has been replaced by newer technology and standards. Some materials duplicate other resources or cover topics better addressed through trusted sources like Health Infoway, CIHI, or HSO. In addition, certain content is tied to old curricular standards, outdated terminology, or provincial rules that make it difficult to apply nationally. Archiving helps reduce clutter, ensure accuracy, and make it easier for members to find clear, up-to-date guidance.
Why This Change Matters
Healthcare and health information are rapidly changing fields. Regularly reviewing and archiving older resources allows us to prioritize high-quality, current information that supports both students and professionals in advancing their knowledge and practice.
