About this role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented team member responsible for leading financial planning, day-to-day accounting, and leading and supporting data-driven analysis and decision-making across the organization. This role combines traditional finance responsibilities with advanced analytics to deliver insights on members, partners, products, and performance that support strategic and operational decision making and performance.
Working at the intersection of finance and analytics, the Manager must be comfortable managing multiple concurrent priorities and responding quickly to evolving business needs.
This role is ideal for a highly organized and self-directed individual who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and enjoys working with data.
Key Responsibilities
Finance and Accounting
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, investments and long-range financial planning processes.
- Maintain financial systems and recommend improvements in processes or tools that support automation and efficiency.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, budget forecasts, and financial packages for committee and board meetings.
- Ensure finance and accounting policies and processes reflect industry best practices.
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, including payables, receivables, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Oversee and collaborate with external accountants and liaise with auditors; manage year-end close and audit prep.
- Manage payroll processing and ensure CRA and provincial remittances are accurate and timely.
- Track and report on project-specific or grant-based funding where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirement.
- Advise on employee relations, leaves, accommodations, and workplace wellness practices.
- Contribute to an inclusive and supportive team culture in a remote-first environment.
Analytics and Insights
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data, identify trends, and communicate results that guide strategic and operational decisions.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for the team.
- Analyze datasets (i.e., members, subscribers, surveys, etc.) to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvements and growth.
- Provide financial and analytical support to focus area leads for decision making.
- Foster a data-driven culture within the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (not-for-profit experience strongly preferred).
- Strong proficiency with Excel, QuickBooks, Stripe, WooCommerce, and other payment gateway integrations.
- Experience with translating data insights into storytelling.
- Familiarity with Canadian employment standards, payroll, and benefits administration.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a virtual environment.
- Strong attention to detail, discretion, and problem-solving ability.
Assets
- CPA designation.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA).
- Experience in a member-based organization.
- Understanding of the healthcare landscape in Canada.
