Greg’s Wings collaborating with Canadian College of Health Information Management to Enhance Health Information Education

[Calgary, May 22, 2024] – Greg’s Wings, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing health care safety and innovation, is thrilled to announce its collaboration with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM). This work aims to contribute significantly to the CCHIM Educational Resources Program (CERP), an initiative designed to empower academic programs with relevant resources to train the next generation of certified health information professionals in Canada.

Greg’s Wings has made a substantial contribution to the CERP, providing the opportunity for academic programs within CCHIM’s accredited network with a learning experience to help provide insight into the crucial role of health data plays in ensuring the safety and care of patients across the county. This collaboration underscores both organizations’ commitment to enhancing the quality of health information education and acknowledges the critical role that health information professionals play in the health care system.

“The partnership with CCHIM represents a positive step forward in our aim to highlight the impact of health information on patient safety,” said Teri Price, Executive Director. “Through our contribution to the CCHIM, we aim to equip health information professionals with the knowledge that their roles in health data are critical to the care that people receive across Canada.”

The College Educational Resources Program, offered by CCHIM, is designed to support academic programs by providing access to a wide range of educational resources. These resources are intended to benefit students, faculty, and professionals alike, enhancing their understanding of health information and its significance in the context of the care people receive.

“We are delighted to partner with Greg’s Wings on this important initiative,” stated Lisa McKenzie, Director, Canadian College of Health Information Management. “Their contribution to the CERP not only enriches the learning experience for our academic programs to bridge the gap between health information theory and practice. Together, we are working towards a future where health information is recognized as a key ingredient in the safe and effective care of people in Canada.”

Greg’s Wings and CCHIM share the commitment to grow the recognition of the vital role that health data plays in the health care landscape. By joining forces, both organizations hope to inspire current and future health information professionals to prioritize and advocate for the use of quality health data in all aspects of care.
