Why are there two different exams leading to the CHIM Certification?

When the College modernized the academic standards launched in 2020, a new exam was created to align with the modernization. The Health Information Fundamentals exam is 90 questions.

The exam an individual is eligible to apply for and write depends on the accredited program they graduated from. The exam they write must align with the curricular standards upon which that program is accredited.

For example – if your academic institution has not moved to the new curricular standards, graduates are writing the older exam. If a candidate has additional questions on which standards their school is accredited against, they should connect back with their program coordinator.
