Meet Anne
Anne Forsyth is Director of Clinical Apps & Decision Support at Women’s College Hospital, where she leads optimization of electronic patient records, clinical decision support tools, and data governance practices. With over a decade of experience in connectivity and data governance, including at the Canadian Institute for Health Information, she now focuses on improving digital experiences for care teams and patients. Anne also serves as Vice-Chair of Digital Health Canada’s Board of Directors and co-chairs the Networked Health – Ontario chapter.

Janine Kaye, BASc, CPHIMS-CA
Meet Janine
Janine has worked in digital health for over two decades in the areas of business intelligence, data warehousing, data governance and master data management.
In her current role, she has turned her attention to the challenges of Canadian healthcare interoperability and the development of national data standards for connected care. In all her work she considers information quality, privacy, risk and patient safety. Janine graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Systems Design Engineering and is a proud holder of the CPHIMS-CA designation.

Meet Jodi
Jodi has over 11 years of experience in health research in clinical, academic, and nonprofit settings. She has an MPH in Epidemiology from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, with professional expertise in multi-regional research, administrative data research, and policy research.

Ontario organizations seeking data or analytics to support decisions may submit a request to ICES. Health Data Research Network (HDRN) Canada is developing a similar multi-jurisdictional service.

Kimberlyn McGrail
Meet Kimberlyn
Kimberlyn is the Associate Dean of Research in the School of Medicine at Simon Fraser University. She is Scientific Advisor for Population Data BC and Scientific Director / CEO of Health Data Research Network Canada. Her research interests are in primary care, policy evaluation and all aspects of population data science. From 2020-2022, Kim was a member of the Expert Advisory Group for the pan-Canadian Health Data Strategy. She is a member of the Global Partnership for AI Data Governance Working Group as well a number of Canadian advisory groups related to health data and research.

Join CHIMA, HDRN Canada, and the SFU Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue for an insightful panel discussion exploring initiatives aimed at enhancing health data literacy across Canada and strengthening public trust in the use of health data. Learn about initiatives HDRN Canada, SFU’s Centre for Dialogue, and CHIMA have undertaken in these areas (funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada) and how a collaborative effort and framework is needed for advancing literacy and trust among those living in Canada.

Meet Lea
Lea is a traditional practitioner who blends Indigenous and nursing knowledge. With over 30 years as a frontline nurse in First Nations communities and as past president of the Indigenous Nurses’ Association of Canada, she has focused her career on Indigenous health research and program development. Since 2019, Lea has served as CEO of the Alberta First Nations Information Governance Centre (AFNIGC), advancing OCAP® principles and strengthening First Nations’ self-determination in health data and research.

Meet Lisa
Lisa is a Certified Health Information Management professional with over 15 years of experience within Newfoundland and Labrador’s health system and she’s passionate advocate for standards and health information management. Lisa joined CHIMA as the Director of the Canadian College of Health Information Management in 2024, and in this role, she is excited to work with academic partners across Canada to support and enhance curricular standards for health information programs, and to elevate the College’s certifications.

In this interactive workshop, we’ll walk through the process of completing a Privacy Impact Assessment. Participants will work with the workshop facilitators to explore best practices, learn from each other, and gain confidence in the PIA process. Dr. Lucas Chartier, MD, MPH, MBA
Meet Dr. Lucas Chartier
Dr. Lucas Chartier is a healthcare leader and innovator driven by the pursuit of better quality and safer patient care for all. He serves as Vice President, Quality & Safety and Chief Patient Safety Officer at the University Health Network (UHN), where he also works as an emergency physician. Lucas is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME). With training at McGill (MD CM), University of Toronto (FRCPC), Harvard (MPH) and the Rotman School of Management (MBA), his work primarily focuses ensuring that the operational and clinical aspects of healthcare align to enable providers to deliver value for patients.

Through the use of compelling stories, this session will demonstrate how we obtain data to confirm hypotheses and how we can leverage this for impactful change at the organizational level. It will cover some of the science on data leading to impact, provide pitfalls and best practice examples on data and insights, and it will provide a call to action to partner for greater impact.

Maxwell Smith, PhD, MSc
Meet Maxwell
Dr. Maxwell Smith is a bioethicist, Associate Professor, and CIHR Applied Public Health Chair in Ethics and Health Emergencies in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. Professor Smith also serves as an Associate Director of the Rotman Institute of Philosophy and has appointments in the Department of Philosophy, Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, and Schulich Interfaculty Program in Public Health. His research is primarily in the area of public health ethics, with a focus on infectious disease ethics and the ethical demands that health equity and social justice place on governments and institutions to protect and promote the public’s health.

Minnie Ho
Meet Minnie
Minnie Ho is the director of Data & Analytic Services (DAS). She completed a MHSc in Community Health and Epidemiology and an Honours BSc in Toxicology, both at the University of Toronto. Minnie joined ICES in 2007 as an epidemiologist and during her tenure, has had a research focus in the area of aging, engaged extensively with voices across the health system, and helped to develop the current ICES-Ontario Health (Quality) collaboration. In her current role, she oversees data access, analytics and reports, spanning a broad range of topics, led by external investigators and health system interest holders to conduct research and health system evaluation. Her unit supports third party researcher requests from the public and private sector, and health system interest holder and rights holder requests through the Applied Health Research Question program.

Nicole Armos
Meet Nicole
Nicole is an Associate Director at Simon Fraser University’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue, where she works to advance innovative and equitable approaches to dialogue and democratic participation. Since 2013, Nicole has supported over a dozen local, provincial and federal public engagement projects with process design, facilitation, data analysis, reporting and evaluation. She is the lead author of the award-winning guide Beyond Inclusion: Equity in Public Engagement and the newly-released Maturity Model for Public Participation.

Ruth Chin, RN, PhD
Meet Ruth
Chen brings extensive leadership experience in professional and continuing education, faculty development, and technology-enhanced learning. Chen, an associate professor in the School of Nursing, has served as the associate dean of Continuing Professional Development in the Faculty of Health Sciences since July 2024 and acting director of McMaster Continuing Education (MCE) since February 2025. Ruth Chen completed a bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley, a master’s in Nursing at Yale University, and her PhD in Health Research Methodology at McMaster.

Ryan Chan, RN, MScN, PhD(c)
Meet Ryan
Ryan Chan is an Assistant Professor (Teaching Scholar) at the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Western University, and currently serves as the President of the Canadian Nursing Informatics Association. Ryan’s emerging teaching, scholarship, and professional interests include digital health/nursing informatics, with a focus on exploring how emerging technologies and digital applications can be leveraged to enhance and optimize nursing practice and quality of health care. Ryan continues to engage in service and collaboration with various local, provincial, and national professional organizations to contribute toward the advancement of nursing and nursing informatics.

With a background in Health Administration and Health Informatics, she brings over a decade of HIM experience and eight years supporting clients. Stephanie works closely with coding teams across Canada, listening to feedback and helping HIM professionals succeed in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.

Tracy Johnson
Meet Tracy
Tracy Johnson is the Director of Pharmaceuticals at the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI). In this position, Tracy has lead the development of a Pharmaceuticals roadmap to address national gaps in drug data and it’s implementation in partnership with CDA-AMC. Tracy also held other leadership positions within Research & Analyses at CIHI where she was responsible and accountable for providing the vision, strategic leadership and client/stakeholder relationships to develop analytical products that address priority health information needs, and promote their use.
